Leaving Cowichan Bay was hard but some lovely wine was awaiting our tasting so off we went. Our first stop was Cherry Point, the oldest winery on the Island. It did not disappoint. We learned here that the Island supports cool climate wines so many of the whites and some reds are made with German and Hungarian varietals. A couple were new to us. Ortega is a cross between Müller-Thurgau and Siegerrebe and it is delicious.
On to Blue Grouse where we enjoyed a Mediterranean North tasting flight paired with three small bites of Italian food from Quattro Bambini. Our server Brooklyn had gone done to the vineyard after serving us and had a clipped a cluster of perfectly small, green Hungarian grapes. I mentioned that I saw her. Next thing you know she presented us with a small box of the entire cluster. So good!
